World of Work
Everyday Training will help link your school and students to the world of work, industry leaders and local employers. Our parent company is Everyday Financial Solutions providing us with a unique ability to not only provide a high standard of Information, Advice and Guidance. We are also able to provide work experience placements. The Founders of Everyday Financial Solutions are also willing to visit and speak with students about:
- Expectations they have from candidates applying for work.
- Expectations they have from employees.
- The entrepreneurial skills needed to succeed in business.
- Mock interviews with feedback.
If there are other topics you would like them to talk about please contact and we will be happy to discuss further. We are also fortunate to have close links with other industry leaders and local employers, and can support your school with work experience requirements.
Our World of Work Programmes Include:
Everyday Training is able to offer a range of enterprise and employability programmes/activities that help support the national curriculums economic well being and financial capability criteria at key stage 3 and 4.
These programmes are designed to help build a greater awareness of the world, prepare young people to secure employment, acquire soft skills needed and give an idea on the importance of budgeting and finance.
All our programmes encourage students to use their enterprising skills, have a positive attitude to change, and to take reasonable risks that will help to motivate them to gain the necessary ambition to make ideas happen and see tasks through to successful completion.
Programmes include:
- Careers Carousal - half a day students meet and question a range of professionals from different career backgrounds.
- Getting Paid - a day of activities focused on the skills and qualities needed to succeed in a workplace (including CV preparation, application forms, letters of application, mock interviews).
- Get ready for work experience - identifying and practising skills and behaviours needed in the work place . Consider their hobbies and interests and how they are important drivers for the future. Explore and discuss what the real world of work is all about.
- Enterprise days - themed around different subjects, students work in non-friendship teams to imitate the world of work, along with a representative from business, in order to develop, cost and present their ideas for a campaign, product or event.
- Money Matters - personal finance day, covering budgeting, earning and saving and balancing a household budget.
- Stepping Up - Support students to make a positive change to their local area, over a 2—4 day period. This can involve arranging a tea party at the local care home, planning and delivering a play activity at a toddler group, working with primary school children on activities to deal with bullying, or fears about moving to secondary school.
Education
Everyday bespoke curriculum enrichment programmes can help to bring learning to life for students demonstrating how topics they study in the classroom are applied in the wider world of work.
We are also able to offer an insight into the practical and day to day work and employment opportunities within a particular job or industry.
The curriculum enrichment programmes include:
- Workplace visits - class/small groups will be taken to visit the premises of an employer where students will be given the opportunity to explore the application of a curriculum topic in the work place. This includes tours, practical activities for them to complete, work taster presentation and the chance for students to question the employees of the company.
- World of Work Visitors - Everyday Training can arrange for employers to visit classes or small groups within your school. These individuals will describe their career paths and area of work, and will explain the skills and qualities needed in order to succeed. This will then be followed by practical exercises or challenges that will also help to meet curriculum requirements.
